During the month of October 2012, some friends from St. Barsaumo Church in Toronto, along with a handful of friends from Edmonton and a friend from Calgary, returned from their travel to the Holy Land being accompanied by Father Estephanos Issa. Everyone who embarked on this journey did so for a specific reason. Perhaps, with the intention of sightseeing or to have walked where history was made. Whatever the rationale was, each traveller reaped from the trip what he/she had sown into it. Certainly, to have travelled without a spiritual purpose would be a great loss. One would forfeit the opportunity to gain heavenly blessings made available by God. Our loving God .. More

God chose his people, a nation that will walk with him after he gave his promise, this promise would include that those people should follow God in full obedience and in return God would grant them his blessings that are mentioned in the law given to Moses, but the people chose to walk away from God’s laws and the result was that they were expelled from God’s face to the land of captivity... “But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Mathew 6:15

In order to forgive our sins, God made a condition, we as well should forgive others, furthermore, Jesus demanded more saying “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" Mathew 5:44, so God wants us to forgive and love the others unconditionally. Our inability to forgive is... More

" Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father" John 14:12

When most of the Christians read this verse, they think it is some sort of imagination, for how can a simple person like me do things greater than what Jesus had made if he believes in him?! This keeps us wondering, what had Jesus done?... MORE

The faithful people normally sing and chant to The Lord as a natural action to express their happiness in him.”Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.” James5:13.This praise varies according to people’s background, culture or education, however, God accepts us the way we are as long as our heart rejoices in him..MORE

We start our life as children knowing that we belong to our families through our blood connection, then when we grow and approach youth we focus on trying to establish our independence, but our life changes totally and takes a new and different direction when we get married .We all live our lives going through different stages that could involve our   education, our profession, or any other activities or aspects.
In the middle of our busy life do we stop and think of the real reason for our life or who does it belong to?! Saint Paul says in his letter to Romans 7:5 "For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death".  This is true for all of us if our life was a daily routine with no fruits from The Holy spirit..More
If there is one thing we can take from the Bible and from Jesus’ life it is how to deal with bullies. Sometimes we overlook the fact that Jesus was a victim of bullying too. During his
Life he was hated upon considered a drunkard and was ultimately crucified by those “bullies”. There is one important note we must understand from bullying, you are NOT the problem, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. God has made you in His image, and He makes no mistakes... More

How can one live in tranquility in the midst of storms? Are you going through a health emergency where there is no hope for healing? Are you going through a severe economic crisis and you feel that God has left you? Are you going through an emotional or a family predicament that has reached a crossroads leading to division? Have you reached the point of despair and the devil has convinced you that you are not useful for anything? Have you lost someone dear to your heart? Is your reassurance in your bank balance? These situations can happen to any human being, no matter the degree of his/her nearness to the Lord. For the believer, this is a test, a stage of purification and spiritual growth. For the unbelieving, it is a slap for him/her to return and call on the Lord. In both cases, however, it is the Lord Who is in control of the events as everything happens with His permission...More

It is written, "for the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23), and, this is the maximum penalty that can be handed down by any civil court. A question arises, and it is, why this harsh sentence for my sin? A sin that I may consider to be insignificant, for example, a simple white lie as it is referred to by many. Together, let us look into this matter from the story found in the Holy Bible in the first chapter of The Book of Esther... More

Prior to entering a battle of any kind, certain preparations need to be in place. With respect to the military, for example, a detailed perspective is absolutely essential in terms of the calculations, plans and strategies to be used. Being ready for battle, begins by investigating the capabilities of the enemy and ensuring that you, the opposing side, stand more competent... More

The Covenant

The covenant is a contract between two parties in which one party would agree to accomplish certain tasks and the other party would provide certain profit or benefit in return, and whoever disobeys the contract would be under the sanctions clause.

There are different forms of covenants. It can be between a strong king and a weaker king, whereby the weaker would obey the stronger king, while the latter would provide protection to the former... More

Do we have enough time to bring our children in a Christian way?

It is a very important question, especially more relevant for immigrants, who faces many new challenges in life, obliging them to work for long exhausting hours. This also applies to people serving the Lord, because concentrating on family issues and spending adequate time with their children may have its toll on how much they can give at church.

We read in 1 Samuel a story of one godly man (Eli the priest), who thought as he was serving the Lord everything was in place, but he forgot to bring up his children the correct godly way:.... More

The Mother of God, the pure, St. Mary the Virgin merits the honours bestowed upon her for her exemplary service to God. St. Mary knew exactly Whom she served. Undoubtedly, our service needs reflection -- is it God Whom we serve? We, too, can follow the pattern set for us by St. Mary for, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Philippians 4:13). By the grace of God, we will address three of St. Mary's many virtues with respect to her service for almighty God...More
“He [Abraham] said to him [the rich man], ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead’” (Luke 16:31). In the Gospel according to St. Luke, we read the story of Lazarus a beggar and a certain rich man. The rich man after tasting eternal death wished for a miracle. A miracle for the sake of his brothers, so that they would repent and not go to the place of torment where he found himself. However, our father Abraham pointed out to him that it is not a matter of a miracle. What is needed, is faith in the Word of God. The basis of such faith is to be nourished with God's Word continuously, while requesting the guidance of the Holy Spirit in order to be enlightened...More
