Who do you belong to?

We start our life as children knowing that we belong to our families through our blood connection, then when we grow and approach youth we focus on trying to establish our independence, but our life changes totally and takes a new and different direction when we get married .We all live our lives going through different stages that could involve our   education, our profession, or any other activities or aspects.

In the middle of our busy life do we stop and think of the real reason for our life or who does it belong to?! Saint Paul says in his letter to Romans 7:5 "For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death".  This is true for all of us if our life was a daily routine with no fruits from The Holy spirit.

In an other place at the same letter St.Paul says  "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us".Romans 5:8 .Because we were dead and only produced bad fruits, like selfishness, envy, fighting ; God sent his only son to die fro us. Therefore, we belong to Jesus Christ only.” You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings". 1 Corinthians 7:23.  And because we belong to Jesus we are considered his partners in love and his brothers on earth, this entitles us to be able to call God “our father who art in heaven…” but with these new advantages, there are duties towards God and his son Lord Jesus Christ.

Our main duty is to fulfill God’s will which is “the salvation of the souls”,   God recruited people to prepare the road to salvation from the beginning of time, so our duty is to be the light that enlightens the paths of others and ushers them to the truth. Because when we are called Christians, we confirm that we belong to Jesus Christ and this is a lifestyle that starts by asking Lord Jesus to be our guide and our master and example.

In Mathew 20:1 Jesus tells us For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard" so the workers were standing and waiting for the landowner, this is the same situation when we look at our relationship with God, we have to make the first step by acknowledging that we belong to him and asking him to hire us for the job that he prepared for us since the beginning of time.  "For we are Gods handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do".Ephesians 2:10 .When all of this is achieved our life takes new dimensions such as:

Ÿ  We put the others before us, so when we are confronted by people who live in the sin we shouldn’t judge them but we should rather try to get closer to them aiming to introduce them to Lord Jesus Christ, sometimes putting the others first can be painful but we will rejoice when we see a sinful person transforms as soon as he or she knows The Lord, by God’s grace not by our own doing.

Ÿ  Rejecting personal pride. We have to admit that everything is done through Jesus Christ and without him nothing can be done, so we ought to work as invisibles when we serve The Lord and we shall notice that as soon as we take the first step The Lord will intervene and work for the glory of his holy name.

Ÿ  Regretting the love of money, when Jesus enters our life, we recognize that our satisfaction is not in how much we have in our bank accounts or how much we are paid every month, but we rather have our eyes always fixed at God who fulfills all our needs and more.

Ÿ  Growing spiritually with the guidance of The Holy Spirit. To keep growing we have to read the bible daily and attend and participate weekly in the Sunday mass and listen to the word that is provided to us by a priest who personally experiences our Lord’s salvation.

Ÿ  Understanding the purpose of going to church, which is not only to listen to a lecture but to rather participate in the prayers for ourselves and for the others who might be sick or in trouble. When this is achieved, going to church starts to feel as a very light effort and we begin to look forwards to it, as such as the lover who couldn’t wait to meet his beloved one, and through our continued prayers we star to feel the presence of Jesus among us. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Mathew 18:20

Ÿ  Acknowledging that our happiness is only with The Lord, enjoying singing the church hymns the way King David did.

After that God will release us from our sins and insecurities and will guide us to do the work that he prepared for us to serve him in the fields of life to obtain the best fruits, we only need to trust him and be patient. God will use you at your home and among your family first, then he will expand to your work place, friends and community, until he introduces you to the whole world to spread the word of the bible and tell about his divine plan of salvation to all the people. Such examples are among us all the time, we see people preach, sing, play the music, work in the media, donate money and time for one purpose only that is the glory to the name of Lord Jesus Christ.

Without the fruits of our work, we do not deserve to be called hid children; therefore we need to try our best to serve his name.
